JP Fitness Summit
My good friend Jean-Paul Francouer from the JP Fitness forums (www.jpfitness.com) wanted me to let everyone know that there are still seats available for his annual JP Fitness summit. If I wasn't taking my wife on a vacation for her 30th birthday, I would be there myself!
Here's the list of presents that JP will have at this years summit:
- Alwyn Cosgrove
- Bill Hartman
- Robert "Dos" Remedios
- Chad Waterbury
- Lou Schuler
To reserve your seat today, check out JP's website below:
Mike in Men's Health
For those of you who receive Men's Health, check out my blurb in the latest section. In the featured article "More Power to the Push-up", I'm mentioned on page 93 describing the Medicine-Ball archbishop. Be sure to try this exercise out as well - it's KILLER!
(NOTE: It's just come to my attention that you can read it HERE as well. - MR)
Prepare to get those knees BULLETPROOFED!
Ever since the LA Strength Training and Nutrition seminar, I've contemplated pulling my "Bulletproof Knees" discussion into an entire manual. And after a lot of time and effort, things are extremely close. I've sent the entire manual off to my copy editor for revisions, and I hope to have it ready to ship within the next month.
If you have dealt with knee issues in the past, or are currently dealing with knee issues, this manual should shed some light on why "traditional" therapies aren't doing the trick.
Stay tuned - this should be a doozy!

When it rains it pours; here's an article I wrote for Elite Fitness Systems on how to build a home gym. Hopefully my experience will motivate some of you to take the plunge as well!

Training Tip:
Use "People Power" to Hit Some New PR's!
No science here, just cold, hard truth: If you want to hit some big time PR’s in the gym, you better get some people around you to help!
Ever tried to plow through a really grueling workout by yourself? Sure, you might get about what you expected out of it, but don’t expect any super-human efforts. If you take the exact same situation and add in some motivated training partners or spotters, you’re damn near guaranteed to blow your old PR out of the water. The best explanation for this is the enhancement of the fight-or-flight response; you’d better fight to move that weight, or get your ass out of the gym before you’re ridiculed to death.
Next time you’re ready to move some big time weights, get some motivated
people in there with you and watch the PR’s fall!
Nutrition Tip:
The 10% Factor
By Dr. John Berardi
If some people eat one food not on their plan, their failure to be perfect
sets in motion a psychological chain of events that leads to frustration
and the inability to get right back on the plan. The all-or-nothing mentality
sets in and BAM, they're back to nothing. But it doesn't have to be this
way. 100% nutritional discipline is never required for optimal progress.
The difference, in results, between 90% adherence to your nutrition program
and 100% adherence is negligible. So allow yourself the extra 10% wiggle
room. This will allow you the freedom to eat a few extra things not on your
menu without the guilt and subsequent crash.
